The Shop's Beginnings
Owner Mel Townsend began framing in Washington DC in 1995 where she managed a custom frame shop and gallery for seven years. Returning to her roots in 2002, she moved back to Portland, OR where she began working for Art Media. For ten years she worked for Art Media and she started and managed the framing department. When Art Media was sold to a corporate art supply store, Mel decided it was as good a time as any to open her dream shop. The goal at the heart of Mel's Frame Shop is to keep it small, keep it local and keep it real for the community.

With 25 years of experience, Mel's Frame Shop offers the highest quality custom framing. Affordabiliy and quality frames and mats are always a priority. We want our customers to feel relaxed and enjoy the experience of creating that wow factor with their pieces. In the spirit of Portland, we also repurpose scrap moulding to create an outstanding selection of premade frame lines at affordable prices.
